Release History¶
For full description of the versioning scheme, please see the Version Guidelines for SOLARNET Metadata Recommendations.
This project uses semantic versioning.
Latest¶
3.2.4¶
Fixed FITS card length validation to correctly handle keywords without comments. Previously, the validator incorrectly assumed all keywords had comments and added
/separator when calculating card length, causing false positives for valid 80-character cards without comments.Fixed FITS card length validation to properly account for quotes around string values. The validator now adds quotes to string values when constructing the card representation, matching the actual FITS format and ensuring accurate length calculations.
Updated CI workflow to upload test results to Codecov using
codecov/test-results-action@v1for improved test reporting and coverage tracking.Clarified requirement for the
EXTENDkeyword in the primary header. The presence ofEXTENDwith a value ofTindicates that the FITS file may contain conforming extensions, but its absence does not necessarily imply that the file does not contain extensions. This keyword is advisory and should only appear in the primary header.Updated footnotes references in documentation to use bolded and superscripted format for better readability.
3.2.3¶
Addresses NumPy compatibility issues with Astropy 6.1.Z by adding a NumPy version constraint to prevent installation of NumPy 2.4.Z and later, which deprecate functionality required by Astropy. This ensures the package remains compatible with Python 3.10.
3.2.2¶
- Added Python package structure with validation and schema functionality:
New
solarnet_metadata.schemamodule withSOLARNETSchemaclass for attribute schema handlingNew
solarnet_metadata.validationmodule for FITS header validation against SOLARNET requirementsComprehensive YAML schema definition for all SOLARNET metadata attributes
- Added CI/CD GitHub Actions workflows:
Codestyle and linting (
black,flake8)Documentation building
Cross-platform testing with multiple Python versions
- Improved documentation:
Reorganized structure with API, User, and Developer guides
Enhanced navigation and styling
Added build configuration with
pyproject.tomlfor modern Python packagingAdded pre-commit configuration for code quality
- Converted Section 19 Keyword List generation.
Added “Required” column to keyword listing in Section 19
Previously, this keyword list was generated using a CSV file and some python code to generate the “Section Reference” list.
This CSV file has been replaced with the larger “schema” YAML file, which contains a larger set of metadata about each keyword. The Python code for generating the keyword list in Section 19 has been updated to read from this schema file.
Future updates to add or remove keywords should be done in the schema file. solarnet_metadata/data/SOLARNET_attr_schema.yaml
